Established in 2024, Moon Kissed Dollz, LLC, provides high-quality, where the old meets new, unique dolls to collectors and enthusiasts alike. Our commitment to authenticity, eccentricity, and customer satisfaction is driven by our passion, determination for perfection, and is born out of the desire for particularly peculiar creations. Each piece being unique and one of kind, they are made of vivid imagination of the things of nightmare and your wildest dreams….
Having turned to the spirt world shortly after dark, the moon would shine, a ray of darkness, the birth, that was the “Moon Kissed Dollz”.
The building blocks behind the creations start with that perfect doll, that is often the inspiration for the creator to envision the various creatures. Some features and expressions of the dolls scream “vampire,” some say “clowns,” and some are definitely waiting to be a “witch.” Some designs or elements of the outfit, such as the dress, the hair style, or even the shoes or eyes, morph and are immediately reimagined in our minds.
Once the selection process of the doll is completed, it undertakes a modification process. This can include, but is not limited to,
- Cleaning of the doll, which can include removing all of the clothes and cleaning all materials, removing any stains, and repairing any damage.
- Mending of the doll can mean sewing tears in the body, replacing stuffing, taking off and reattaching the wig, and repairing music boxes.
- Restyling or reviving the hair can be fun as the hair may be cut, curled, sewn into an updo, or even completely removed and we will make a new wig by hand completely from scratch.
- Painting the doll’s porcelain white is one of our trademarks. We then apply beauty makeup, fangs, draw in veins, simulate blood, add eyelashes, and give the eyes that specific look of attitude. Spray or liquid adhesive is used to seal the paint.
- Working with clothing is the time-consuming part of the process where it usually requires dying, painting, and altering the clothes. The clothing can be taken apart to achieve the ‘look’, and the extra material is used to create matching capes and/or hats. Lace adornments, buttons, collars, corsets, masks, and other accessories are all applied by hand to give that special look.
- Accessories such as blankets, pillows, bows, hats, socks, tights, pants, and more are handmade! Some products are given tiaras, bottles, pumpkins, seats, cribs, strollers, and some even have bears or dolls of their own!
Each doll is given a new lease of life, with a “Moon Kissed” glow, and is given even a unique name!
At Moon Kissed Dollz, we reimagine, revamp, and transform these porcelain dolls into a wide range of horror and goth styles! Each piece is carefully handcrafted and brought to life with an application that will be sure to indulge those curious minds with our one-of-a-kind finds. Our inventory continues to morph to feed your macabre moods. From dolls and teddies to bunny plushies and accessories such as chairs, cribs, or rocking horses - the carnival of choices awaits you!
Our PASSION and the FREEDOM of SELF EXPRESSION that goes into each piece is what we love. LOVE and DEDICATION drive our business.
DISCLAIMERS
1. We do not use any 3-D printing in our creativity processes. All items are sourced through local vendors or through on-line orders.
2. All product photographs on our web site have been taken by us. There is one display photo for each product that we call ‘the Hollywood picture’ that depicts an actual photo of the product and has an AI generated background only. The product is not AI created.
3. Our work is that of whimsy. The names, imagery, personae, or stylizations are products of the creator’s imagination and are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to a person, living or dead, is eerily coincidental.
A NOTE FROM THE CREATOR
Behind the Story, as such
As a FAN of horror/Christmas/Spooky and all things Halloween, my love, admiration, and curiosity “For and Of” the mythical, fantasy, and horror movies, I have always enjoyed altering clothes, making simple costumes for events such as Halloween parties, ComiCon, and Renaissance Fairs. I grew up with a few dolls and teddy bears and I was inspired to create a “Creepy Doll” that was still pretty. One and few dolls later, the rest is history! It was never the question of can I but rather when I !
Sometimes our modifications would ‘seemingly seem simple’ to viewers. Simple does not however mean any less work, details, time spent, and the love that goes into each piece. My work usually consists of a lot of dye, paint, etc. What goes unnoticed might be the smooth finish, the invisible stitches, the hours that go into each piece, and so forth. Artists, I believe, are their worst critics and even when the job is done, we continue to spend more time tearing our work apart, thinking what we could/would/should have! Our skills and styles are each unique, nevertheless, we continue to compare. I have an immense appreciation for handmade items, whether it be from scratch, modified, or custom items.
Many of us, the creative souls that we are, express ourselves in ways that not everyone can relate to, but let’s celebrate those differences and ignite a spark that sparkles within us.
I am excited and proud of how far along Moon Kissed Dollz has come. From designing our own business cards, updating MKDz website, and gearing up for the future of our business. My life/business partner has been my go-to for all behind the scenes part of the business - let’s just say ‘stuff’ - and I can’t THANK him enough.
MEMO FROM THE PARTNER
In his own words, as such
I have always loved Halloween. It has always been my favorite ‘holiday’ even as a kid… not just because of the candy (ok – that WAS important) but because of going out dressed as someone or something else. Wearing those flat plastic masks that you could not breathe through and wearing a vinyl superman outfit over the top of my snowmobile suit was the highlight of my year. I am fortunate to have a mother that taught me to sew and make my own clothing and costumes and gave me a solid base on knowing how to help advise my wife on how to approach alterations.
I never really grew out of that mindset. These experiences led to present day cosplaying at comic conventions, dressing up for renaissance faires and steampunk events, and taking three months to create Halloween costumes for my friend’s themed parties.
All of this, combined with my database management degree and a career of project management, set me up perfectly to move into partnership with my wife for the venture of working the ‘back office’ tasks for Moon Kissed Dollz. Working on the web site, managing her inventories and receipts, and keeping track of finances and doing taxes pales in the responsibility to help her with creative experiences. Don’t get me wrong – she is ALL the talent but every so often I am proud that she thinks one of my ideas is a good one.
I am genuinely blessed to be in this venture with someone who is so talented and is also the best boss that I have ever had.
